Privacy Policy
Squash Marker is a web app for live squash scoring and tournament management, created and run by Ahmar Abbas in Falls Church, Virginia, USA. This policy explains, in plain English, what information the app handles and why. It is not legal advice. Questions or requests: ahmar.abbas@gmail.com.
1. Who this applies to
- Referees & spectators. You can score a match with an event code, or watch a live board, without an account. We don't ask you to sign in and don't collect personal details from you.
- Organizers. If you create and run events, you make an account and enter tournament information. Most of this policy is about that.
2. What we collect
- Organizer account: your email address and a password, handled by our authentication provider (Supabase). Used only to sign you in.
- Event and match data you enter: player names, clubs/teams, seeds, match details, venue, and the scores, times and results recorded during play.
- Technical data: standard information your browser sends (such as device/browser type) and basic error information needed to keep the app working.
We do not collect payment information, and we do not use advertising trackers.
3. Information shown in public
Squash Marker is built to show live results. When an organizer makes an event's board public, the following can be seen by anyone with the link, or from the app's home page, without an account:
- player names and clubs,
- live and final scores, and
- downloadable score sheets for a match.
Organizers choose whether a board is public. If you are a player and would rather your name not be shown, please ask the event organizer.
4. Children's privacy
Squash tournaments often include junior players. Squash Marker is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from children directly. However, an organizer may enter a junior player's name, which can then appear on a public board or score sheet.
Organizers are responsible for obtaining any consent required (for example from a parent, guardian or club) before entering a minor's details or making a board public. If you believe a child's information has been published and should be removed, email ahmar.abbas@gmail.com and we will remove it promptly.
5. How your information is used
Only to run the service: to sign organizers in, create and manage events, score matches, show live boards, and produce score sheets and summaries. We do not sell your information and do not share it with advertisers.
6. Where your information is stored
The app runs on Supabase (database and authentication) and Netlify (hosting), which store data on servers in the United States. If you use the app from outside the US, your information is processed there.
7. Information stored in your browser
To keep scoring reliable even with a poor connection, the app saves your current match and recent match history in your own browser (local storage), and uses a small session record to keep organizers signed in. This stays on your device; clearing your browser data removes it.
8. How long we keep it
Event and match data is kept so results remain available after the event. Organizers can edit or delete their matches and events in the admin console, and can ask us to delete their account and associated data at any time.
9. Your choices
- Organizers can edit or delete events and matches themselves.
- Anyone can ask us to access, correct or delete personal information by emailing ahmar.abbas@gmail.com.
- To take a board out of public view, an organizer can make it private or delete the event.
10. Security
We use reputable providers (Supabase, Netlify) and standard protections such as encrypted connections (HTTPS). No online service can be guaranteed perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. The "last updated" date at the top shows the latest version.
